OEM Dodge Factory Rims and Wheels Buyer’s Guide

The Dodge Brother's Company, as it was originally founded as in 1900 by brothers John Dodge and Horace Dodge, has had a long and mostly successful history that continues to be created today. The car company originated from the brother's first business which was simply manufacturing car parts for other automobile companies in the surrounding Detroit area and included Old Motor Vehicle Company and Ford Motor Company. The beginning years of the Dodge company were very successful and might have remained so for quite awhile longer if not for the unfortunate death of first John Dodge by pneumonia and then later that year Horace died of cirrhosis. For only five more years after this did Dodge remain a privately owned and operated company when in 1925 Dodge was sold to Dillon, Read & Co. and then again in 1928 to its current owner Chrysler.

Throughout Dodge's history they have become known for their quality trucks which are now known under the Ram brand name, that was created in 2009 so Dodge could create two different branding opportunities, the original Dodge car brand as well as the new Ram Trucks which have a very different target market than regular car buyers.

Wheels that have been offered on the trucks range from 22" to 14" and include both steel as well as alloy rims. The earlier trucks such as the D50 and 100 were almost exclusively steel wheels and were between 14" and 16" with spoke stylings that range from 4 to 12 holes. Trucks such as the 200 and 250 (along with their counterparts the 300, 400 and the 350, 450) were available with dually wheels that had 16.5" diameters. The newer trucks (comprised of the 1500, 2500, and 3500) are mostly equipped with 16" and 17" alloy rims. The 1500, being a somewhat smaller truck (comparatively) more publicly popular, is available with 20" wheels and even a 22" rim with cladded chrome or polished finish.
