No, it’s not the same as 4WD that comes on your 2001 Toyota 4Runner wheels ; which is where the wheels are powered. When a vehicle has regular two-wheel steering, it’s only the front wheels that rotate & the rear wheels remain straight the whole time. However, in four wheel steering, your rear wheels would also be able to turn left & right; how cool, huh?
There’s no separate steering wheel for your rear wheels; there’s actually a computer that reads the speed that your vehicle is going & then from there decides how your wheels need to rotate.
If you buy either a 2009 or 2010 model vehicle, you’ll notice that they’ll offer this option. Since it is considered to be new, you can bet your little bottom that it will most likely add value to your car; which will then make it more expensive.
