The Chevy Caprice is a full size car that during its six generations has come in 2 door hardtop, coupe, and convertible body styles, as well as 4 door hardtop, sedan, and station wagon body styles. The first generation which lasted from 1966 until 1970 came with a choice between 8 different engines, all V8, and with either an automatic or manual transmission, whereas the third generation was offered with several V6 and V8 engine options as well as a V8 Diesel engine, and only automatic transmissions. The current generation of Caprices that are still being produced today come with either a V6 or V8 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission and are only available as a 4-door sedan. They are built on the GM Zeta Platform that is perhaps most famous for producing the Chevy Camaro.

The Caprice has only offered five wheels during its entire production. The first four were all 15" steel wheels except for one 15" alloy wheel with a web spoke design and machined finish. Two of the 15" steel wheels had painted finish and 16 slots. The last of the 15" wheels was a 18 hole silver finished steel wheel. After the 14 year recess, the Caprice's last generation came out with one 18" steel wheel with a black finish.
